Oh! for a Sight -A Poem

Oh! I long to see,
To stand in dark shadows of the cool evening,
Turning night.
I want to watch from amidst the shadows
Of the trees,
On a moonlight roof, a mother feeding her child,
The food of love and survival.

The tiny child in his mother’s arms
Refuses to eat,
Till his mother tells him a story,
Of the misty moon up in the sky
And why it smiles at him from up there

The mother weaves stories of soft silk sweetness
And then feeds her child,
He listens with awestruck wonder
Of the moon and his silver rays,
Gently riding the cottony white clouds,
The baby, his mother adores
Telling him fascinating tales of joy
Of the moon…
He swallows another handful of food
And gazes lovingly at the moon;
His fair uncle.
